What you'll do
Visit Chez Pepe: for the next 2.5 hours you will watch the milking of the goats (depending on the time of the year milking time can vary), go on a guided visit of the dairy including the wall of remembrance (pictures and articles explaining where does Pepe Charlot comes from, showcasing and exhibiting recipes made by famous South African Chefs using Pepe's Cheeses) and explore the cheese making process including the 4 main steps of cheese making : Inoculation/setting/draining/moulding - cheese maturation or the art of turning a mild un-pretentious cheese into a unique matured cheese - cheese educational with cheese tasting including 6 different cheeses (+/- 200gr of cheese - fresh bread - water ). Also, the possibility of buying cheese and cheese accessories such as boards, knives and soaps.

Back in France, my grand-father Pepe Charlot use to feed me his own mature goat's cheese when I was a child and this is why I developed a passion for this unique type of cheeses. Over 40 years later I make cheese in memory of him following traditional french recipes, using unpasteurised goat's milk and educating visitors to understand how good cheese is made, how to pair and appreciate it

Surrounded by goats, the Dairy "Chez Pepe" is set on the edge of a Pine Forest bordering the Cape Peninsula National Park, part of the Imhoff farm located in the fisherman's village of Kommetjie, a few hundred meters from the Atlantic Ocean, and a few kilometres away from the Cape of Good Hope
