Hello everyone, my name is Raffaele, founder of sicilyhikingtour.com. I was born and raised in a small town in the northwest of Etna, Bronte, famous all over the world for the production of pistachio, which grows on the lava rock!
The passion for nature and outdoor activities, ever since I was a child, has led me to become a hiking nature guide (AIGAE). In my personal tours I offer the opportunity to discover various naturalistic itineraries on Etna, accompanied by tastings of typical local products. Follow me and you will see!

Our tour was a fantastic experience from start to the very end. Raffaele has been very friendly and kind and has shared a lot of knowledge with us during the day. Visiting the different places on the Etna was a wonderful experience in itself; the fantastic lunch, the visit to Bronte and the pistaccio-farm made the experience truly unique. Thank you!

This experience was truly one of a kind. This is NOT a commercial or touristy excursion - you will spend your day having an authentic experience with a true local Sicilian. Raffaele is extremely friendly and passionate about Etna and the surrounding area. We learned so much about the history and scientific aspects of Etna. The hike itself was not along the typical tourist trails which made our experience feel very special and unique compared to other people on the slopes of Etna. We had lunch in Raffaele’s home town of Bronte at a local restaurant that uses the famous Bronte pistachio. Raffaelle was incredibly hospitable and generous, ensuring we walked away from lunch brimming with smiles and full bellies. The last part of our experience was on a pistachio farm overlooking the ancient Etna lava fields. We learned an incredible amount information on pistachio growing, grafting, and harvesting. Overall this experience was truly special. One of a kind. By the end of the day, we felt like we made a friend. We cannot recommend this experience enough. If you enjoy the outdoors, authentic food experiences, agriculture, and great conversation, this is the AirBnb experience for you!

This tour was fantastic. I cannot imagine that a mainstream tour of Etna could come close to this experience. Raffaele knows so much about Etna and Bronte. He took us off the beaten paths, was patient, kind, and knowledgeable. The lunch was one of the best of our trip (they even made me a vegetarian option without prior notice). The pistachio farm was a unique and interesting experience. I would highly recommend this tour to anyone visiting Etna. You’ll have a blast and it’s a tremendous value for all that you see.

Raffaelle is an excellent and very knowledgeable guide. Was on time to pick me up from my hotel. And even though it was only me booked on the tour he didn’t cancel or asked to reschedule, and truly felt like a private tour. He explained the history about every place we stopped at, also provided all what was written in the tour description. I would definitely book another tour with him next time i’m in Sicily. Go for it!!
