What you'll do

We meet in Old Mill Park near downtown Mill Valley, where we start our walking exploration of Marin's magical redwood forest. Following quiet backroads and footpaths, we visit quiet groves of ancient redwood trees and follow spring-fed creeks to natural pools and cascading falls. In this peaceful forest, unique to the northern California and southern Oregon coastal region, the sequoia semperviren soar hundreds of feet into the sky, providing an unequaled nature experience at base of mighty Mt. Tamalpais. Along the way, you learn about the coastal redwoods' amazing ecology and their clever adaptations for survival over many millions of years. It is a remarkable escape into nature on the slopes of beautiful Mt. Tam.

Up to three guests per walk can meet me in Sausalito 45 minutes before the start time, where we will shuttle to Mill Valley's Old Mill Park (by advance arrangement only. Return shuttle to Sausalito included.) Weekend ferry service from SF to Sausalito has resumed. Guests need to catch the 10:40AM Golden Gate ferry from the terminal behind SF's Ferry Building (foot of Market St.) Ferry arrives Sausalito at 11:10AM.

If you need another start time, please contact me via Airbnb direct message or e-mail at sanfranciscocoastwalk@gmail.com. This refreshing walk is also ideal for groups and corporate team building outings!

I grew up just over the hill from Muir Woods in Mill Valley. Mt. Tam and the redwood forests were a playground for myself and my childhood pals. Years later, I founded a nature walking company, Coastal Walkers, focusing on the region's abundance of nature trails and scenic coastal spots. My routes are uncrowded and peaceful, a wonderful way to experience northern California nature and the primeval forests of the ancient redwoods.

Note: If the walk is fully booked and you can meet us in Mill Valley (30 minutes drive from SF), please contact me and I will be able to accommodate you.

My other nature walks: Redwoods of Marin Photo Walk (airbnb.com/experiences/60872), Golden Gate Coast (airbnb.com/experiences/60533), Lands End (airbnb.com/experiences/61724), and Sausalito Golden Gate Sunset Walk (airbnb.com/experiences/61731)

Where you'll be

We meet in Mill Valley's Old Mill Park, just 20-30 minutes drive north of San Francisco. The town is nestled at the foot of Mt. Tamalpais, the locals' favorite peak. We stroll into an ancient redwood forest, following a fern-lined creek and hidden paths on this magical hike into the natural heart of Marin County. Note: If the walk is booked full and you can meet us in downtown Mill Valley, please contact me and we will be able to accommodate you.

This was a FANTASTIC experience! Ben is kind, knowledgeable and patient. His passion makes it fun to learn about California history and nature. We did this as part of a baby moon so he was extra solicitous about taking our photos and making sure I could handle the hike. Would do it again!

It was a very long hike for someone who doesn't really do hiking, but it was worth it. Despite the little fog, it was still really fun. Ben was very informative and flexible.

A great experience with Ben. Ben knew so much about the trees and surroundings. We learned a lot. Prepare for some awesome photo locations, a boast of serotonins and breath of fresh air with the sequoias and pines

Our tour of the Redwood Forests with Ben was awesome! Ben shared his vast knowledge of the nature and history of the the area with us. He was very accommodating to our specific desires in terms of what we wanted to see and experience. Ben made us feel very comfortable as a tour guide and leader of our small group. I highly recommend Ben for your San Francisco area forest discovery desires. He also followed all covid guidelines that made us feel safe and secure.
