What you'll do

If you’ve ever been intrigued by these remarkable animals, the Alpaca Knuffle Shuffle is a one of a kind opportunity to engage with them. Often referred to as “Dolphins of the Pasture”, Alpacas have an incredible ability to bring balance and calm to us through the connection created on our hike through the fields in the beautiful rolling hills of Northumberland County.

What you can look forward to:

Approximately 1 hour of interaction with the animals.
You will meet each of our alpacas, hear about their personalities and choose which ‘alpaca partner’ you feel at home with. Guests are paired two people per alpaca.
Learn how to halter, groom, interact and lead your Alpaca.
Get some understanding of what makes these animals so unique.
Rediscover a connection with nature while hiking with your Alpaca through our fields.
At the end of the hike, there will be ample time to take photographs with all of the Alpacas.
You will be welcomed to relax following the hike with a glass of local apple cider.

We are 2 people who came to our senses and left Toronto in 2007 for a place in the country. In 2009 we brought home 4 impossibly cute Nigerian Dwarf Goats and now we are one of the largest breeders in the country. We give workshops on milking, making cheese and much more. We've birthed more than 180 baby goat on our farm and have helped many people start their own herds. But the Haute Goat Shmurgle was developed so that people could meet, cuddle (Shmurgle) and learn more about these completely joyful animals. Two years ago we brought home 7 adorable alpacas and now we offer Alpaca encounters.

We had never seen Alpacas before so this was a unique experience. They were a bit stubborn at first and took some time to get used to, but all went well otherwise. It was a good trip. Would recommend!

We had such a memorable and wonderful experience! The farm visitors and workers wore masks and we had our temperature checked at the entrance so I didn't feel concerned about corona at any point. We had the pleasure of having the guide all to ourselves so the walk was very personalized. The entire alpaca herd had such different personalities and we got to learn about taking care of the alpacas and the history of the farm. It was a hot day so we even got to give them a shower with a hose! At the end we enjoyed incredibly delicious goat milk ice cream at the cafe and petted the friendliest baby goats. I wholeheartedly recommend this experience to anyone.

It was fun! They briefed us on alpaca behaviour, there were playful ones, shy ones, naughty kids. Ours was Bibi n she ws shy but gradually warmed up towards us. I loved the experience!

We had a wonderful time learning about and walking the alpacas. It’s something that’s very popular in Europe and I’m happy that Debbie allows you to get that experience so close to Toronto. Thanks Debbie and staff!

Our guides were really friendly and we got to hear about each alpaca’s unique personality. We learned a lot about alpacas and the farm as we hiked through the snow and it was very charming. It was really beautiful, and the screaming goat cafe was delicious. We hope the alpacas loved this as much as we did, I think the mutual benefit is important.
