What you'll do
The Hike and Wine experience shows some of the most authentic characteristics of the Portuguese identity and its traditions. On one hand the walk allows you to calmly discover and enjoy the beautiful rural zones that surround Lisbon, away from the touristic centres, where you can experience the rustic villages scattered in landscapes with breathtaking views, almost like travelling back in time. The hike ends in a way that could not be more traditional, with one of the most important elements of the Portuguese identity. Wine production. We end as such with a refined wine tasting in a small adega that reinstated old local varieties in an attempt to preserve the collective memory. What we'll do: - We meet in a rural village outside of Sintra centre (12km away) or at Sintra train station (please inform if transportation is needed) - I guide you through a hike in the surroundings where we stop at some highlights of the area - We have a guided tour of a local winery where we end our experience with a refined wine tasting complimented with the towns local bread If the date you would like to book is not available on the calendar, please contact, maybe we can open the date for you =)
I am Joana, an avid hiker and curious explorer. Being in Nature is what drives me, in fact, it is in the wilderness that I feel most at home. From a young age, I’ve been taught the values of Nature and the importance of respecting it but it wasn’t until my early adulthood that I noticed how much I needed Nature to maintain balance in my life. I explore these hills since childhood and I feel them as a part of my essence as my family is originally from here. I began hiking on a regular basis in the Sintra hills and countryside area, looking for new routes and old paths. I started hiking alone, later on with friends and eventually sharing my hikes with those visiting Sintra, because Nature is too beautiful not to be shared. Are you ready to discover a rare gem of untouched rurality so close from the capital?
A light local snack is provided

Where you'll be
We start in Cheleiros centre and make our way through the village along the river. Along the walk we pass typical quaint villages, valleys and vineyards with magnificent views of the surrounding fields and hills. We stop by a waterfall to take in the Nature whilst we enjoy a snack, which on a good day is abundant with water. Before heading back to Cheleiros for wine tasting, we have guided tour through a local winery.
