What you'll do
I believe that the most things you do everyday in Japan is to eat!!! And when you eat, I am pretty sure you will have opportunities to use chopsticks. But why don’t you take your own chopsticks with a special chopsticks case you make? In this course, you make a chopsticks case with a Japanese traditional knot and pure silk fabric (Kasuri) First, you make a chopstick case by using one of the method of making Kimono. Second, you make Japanese traditional knot with Japanese braids. Third, you assemble the chopstick case and the knot you make together. During the experience, I will show and tell you the techniques step by step. After the workshop, I will give you chopsticks and you may take them to everywhere you eat out in Japan or even back your home with the special case you make. Moreover, the knot you make in this workshop has meanings of the good luck and good bonding. So, anywhere you take, I hope you have good luck and meet great people while you are traveling in Japan. Let’s have fun making it together!
I’m a artist who loves crafting. I’ve experienced varieties of crafting such as bags, clothes, ribbons, jewelry and so on over 8 years. Recently, I sold my handcrafts products in the top department store in Osaka. When I crafts something, I mix and use many techniques to create unique products. So, I designed this workshop to have guests make “a chopstick case with a knot” by using mixture of Japanese traditional techniques of making Kimono and knots.
