What you'll do

At 9.00 am Ludovica starts the course with a brief history about Chalcography: the art of engraving on copper or zinc plates used for printmaking. Observation of metals and various tools used to engrave and of the various techniques: etching, drypoint, experimental techniques. Before starting, it will be made a demonstration of the preparatory phases: looking at print examples, plate preparation, paper preparation, inking up the plate and printing with the Stella press. The materials will be mostly non-toxic, we try to protect the environment. During the course you will work on a zinc plate, introducing you to the metal and the mordant that we use. From 10 to 12 you plan your work, make the drawing and transfer it on the plate; the theme will be the same for everyone since it will be connected to the afternoon tour ( Theme : Pinocchio, in the afternoon visit to Pinocchio’s village) At 12 am we have a lunch break. At 1 pm back to Ludovica’s course till 3 pm . 3pm to 5pm Rodrigo will take you to Collodi, city where Pinocchio was created and to Quercione, near the medieval city of Montecarlo, to see the tree that inspired Pinocchio’s author. at 5 pm Rodrigo will drive you back.
