What you'll do
You will engage in a hands-on course with our gentle Mustangs. Novices are absolutely welcome because our horses are wonderful teachers and this is about getting to truly be with a horse--hands-on and at eye level. Of course, there will be petting and opportunities for photos with these American Icons, but the main focus will be learning how to connect with horses. We use natural horsemanship techniques--in other words we try to "speak horse" and communicate with them in ways they understand. Some people call this method horse whispering. We call it practical and compassionate interaction. We will spend our session helping you learn to communicate with the horses. First we will meet the herd and learn a little bit about the backstory of these Mustangs. We will bring the horses into the arena--you will see them run and play and will have a chance to observe their personalities and how they communicate with one another. We will build on this and get you paired with your own Mustang so you can learn how to "listen" to and connect with "your" horse. It is a marvelous experience to be so close to such kind and powerful animals and an experience you always remember.

Our family has always loved animals & frankly, this Mustang rescue has always been a dream. In 2011, we started the non profit & have been studying animal behavior/ natural horsemanship ever since. Some call it "horse whispering". I don't know about that--but I do love sharing the "magic" with others. In 2005 we adopted our first Mustangs & have gentled/trained 30+ horses from the wild. I love their intelligence, beauty & the inspiration they bring--beside that, they are just plain fun. I've taught in schools & created museum programs, but now Mustangs & working with people with special needs are my focus.
