What you'll do
We'll meet at the Bayfront Marina to discuss tips and tricks of photographing people, places, and things. There are both fantastic scenery and great light in the park to practice with. After trying different techniques to photograph the boats, water and sky we will try out portrait photography. We'll discuss different lighting scenarios, camera settings, composition choices and a host of other topics that will show you how to make your own high-quality images with ease. Next, we will take a short walk to downtown to photograph the people and activities happening there. Everyone can test their photojournalistic skills while continuing to talk about composition, light and camera settings to best accentuate your subjects and take fabulous photos. We will cap off the experience with a final discussion about image sizing, retouching techniques and anything else you would like to talk about.
I attended Brooks Institute of Photography before becoming a professional fashion and lifestyle photographer in San Francisco. Alas, that was many years and several children ago. Today I shoot portraits, nature and mean vacation photos. I also help people visiting my lovely city of Sarasota, FL learn how to take better photographs of their families, the beach, our fantastic wildlife or anything they want to capture artfully and bring home with them. The tips and tricks I provide will help you take better photos for sharing on social media or hanging on your wall. Come on, let's shoot!

Where you'll be
We'll meet at the Bayfront Park where there are gorgeous views of the Ringling Bridge, tasteful yachts and sailboats in the marina, outdoor art and Sarasota Bay. Plenty of people and wildlife watching. Then we'll head downtown. Depending on your mood we could go to Main St, artsy Palm Ave or the funky, hip Rosemary district. We will end our workshop at one of Sarasota's quint wine bars or cafes that locals love.
