About Pretty Brown Girl Foundation

Founded in 2012, The Pretty Brown Girl Foundation's mission is to address adverse social issues affecting girls of color through self-acceptance and leadership development programs in an atmosphere of celebration, empowering them to fulfill their dreams and promote positive change in their communities.
This is a social impact experience where 100% of what you pay for this experience goes to Pretty Brown Girl Foundation. .

What we’ll do

We'll meet up to learn about the Pretty Brown Girl movement – its inspiration, ideals, and goals. The director of the Charles Wright museum, which focuses on influential black women in history, will guide us. We'll eat together, then create a Pretty Brown Girl care package of our signature doll and a personal letter from our group. The recipients of this gift will be present to share her stories.

Please wear comfortable shoes. You'll take home your own Pretty Brown Girl tee shirt!

What I’ll provide

Food
Meal Jamaican inspired meal with delicious jerk or curry chicken, braised cabbage, red beans and rice and plantains.
Equipment
PBGirl t-shirt & wristband Pretty Brown Girl doll will be donated to a girl in need on behalf of guest.

What to bring

5 or 6 small items that would be ideal for a girl ages 5-10-years old would need or enjoy. These could include toiletries, school supplies or a small keychain or souvenir from your city,etc.

Where you'll be

We'll spend our afternoon at the Charles H. Wright Museum of African American History, located in the Cultural Center Historic District of Detroit. This museum holds the world's second largest permanent exhibit on African American culture, with more than 30,000 artifacts and archival materials.
