What you'll do
It will be a 2-and-half-hour cooking class, hosted out of my kitchen inside a Victorian mansion in Corning, NY. I will teach my guests, how to prepare the ingredients for making fillings for wontons, wrapping them up in 4 different ways, cooking them differently, and finally serving the wontons in soup, appetizer, main dish as well as dessert. You will have detailed notes that I prepared for you on the various ways of wrapping and cooking of wontons. You will have hands-on practice, and can easily take home what you learned from this cooking class. A skill that you can treat yourselves a delicious and healthy homemade multi-course wonton meal for many years to come! In the last half hour, you will enjoy the wontons that we make and cook together in our beautiful stately dinning room inside a historical mansion. I will answer questions on wonton, wine pairing, Chinese food culture, Chinese art in the dining room, as well as architecture, original owner, and history of the mansion. To quote Jimmy Oliver, "Good food is a global thing and I find that there is always something new and amazing to learn - I love it!" Please contact host for private group booking.

Growing up in Shanghai, China, I learned making "wonton", around the family from a young age. I have been making it for over 30 years now. Wonton is a southern Chinese tradition food that has been well loved at so many special occasions and in so many different ways. I like to share my love of wonton with others, so that they will make an impressive multi-course wonton meal, serving it as appetizer, soup, main dish and a dessert. You will enjoy the authentic wonton as much as I do when it is done right, the taste buds in your mouth waking up to a perfect balance of flavor and texture. Making wonton with family and friends is sharing of joy, fun and therapeutic. This Airbnb experience, combining edutainment and boutique dining in one, provides a truly one-of-kind enjoyable time for all.
A yummy 4-course wonton meal that we will make together. Materials for the meal preparation is included.
I will serve Chinese tea, water, or coffee.
