What you'll do
We meet at Dun Laoghaire train station and head off towards the East Pier Harbour passing the famous Georgian Yacht clubs. We will walk the East Pier taking in the views of Dublin bay while learning the origins of the pier and viewing the historic land marks on the coast. We will continue walking along Scotsman's bay to Sandycove Harbour. Here we will visit the Martello Tower home to the James Joyce Museum. If you are feeling brave you can jump into the sea at the famous 40ft bathing place with the daily swimmers (optional). Then it’s off to my Joycean inspired local, Fitzgerald's pub, for a 'swifty' (pint to the locals!). Once refreshed we will continue on past a Victorian Terrace of homes on Sandycove Road and then down to Bullock Castle which is located in the working harbour. Then it’s on to Coliemore harbour, home to my rowing club overlooking Dalkey Island with it's historic Martello tower and barracks. Next we move to Dillon's Park and Sorrento Park with views of Killiney Bay often referred to as Ireland's Bay of Naples. We will finish off in Dalkey passing Finnegans Pub (Bono’s local) where you can have lunch if you wish to extend your day on Dublin' Southside.
