What you'll do
This experience is all about nature. We'll search on foot or by bike for local and migratory birds such as chickadees, swans, warblers, swallows, herons, ducks and more in the best place for bird-watching in Toronto. Most locals don't know that this important bird area on the edge of Lake Ontario exists. While our main focus is birds, we might come across a beaver, and maybe a snake too.
We'll meet near the bicycle share station in the parking lot of this urban wilderness with diverse biological communities, just east of the downtown core.
Bring a camera with a lens that provides a range from wide-angle to telephoto so we can photograph anything from insects to mammals. I share photography tips and discuss the art of seeing in photography. This is not a technical photography workshop. Smartphones can work for this experience too.
This incredible nature park is on the bird and monarch butterfly migration route (August) and is a prime bird-watching area in May/early June, Sep./early Oct, but birds are visible year-round.
You'll go home with photography tips, a peaceful time in nature, and hopefully photos of our bird sightings.
To get the most out of this experience, I highly recommend you bring or rent a bike at the bike-share station as the park has many interesting and diverse areas.
Covid-19: Please wear a mask.
Other things to note
We'll chat 24-48 hours before. Option to rent a bicycle from the bike-sharing station. For a 2 hour ride, it's approximately $15.25 CAD. Use a credit card to pay at the station. Recommended if you want to go further into the park to explore the variety of habitats and areas.
