What you'll do
Participants will show up for a private event at our oyster bar. Its an intimate, comfortable, iconic and cozy space. They will be greeted by myself and members of the Boom Shuck-a-Lucka team, a group passionate individuals some of whom are oyster farmers themselves. After a bit of mingling we will provide an overview and detailed step by step on how to shuck an oyster. Participants will then start shucking and we will work 1 on 1 with them to teach the skill. In addition to learning to shuck.. we will also educate on the oyster, aquaculture and simple the incredible Maine coast

My name is John Herrigel and I am the creator and founder of the Maine Oyster Company! Our mission it to build an oyster community through experience and story.. sharing the incredible story of the oyster itself and the individual stories of the farmers who grow them! I have been an oyster farmer for the past 3 years and run a boutique oyster farm in mid-coast Maine. We also have a network of 20+ farmers that supply our oyster bar and on any given event 1 of them in addition to myself will be onsite to talk about their farm, methods of growing and story about themselves and their journey.

Where you'll be
We will be in 1 space for the duration of the class at the Maine Oyster Company. It is a comfortable, cozy and warm atmosphere.
