What you'll do

COVID-19 Update: Our city is OPEN. Beekeeping is outdoors and safe (equipment cleaned, etc). However, Airbnb's calendar is down. We're hosting private tours for families (5-8 people) who have been together during this unusual time. Come experience a 2-hr bee tour on Wed-Sun @ 10a-3p. Larger groups (15+) and our Fri/Sat night "Make Mead / Honey Wine" class will hopefully be available soon. Please send us an inquiry here or contact us as 925-852-9900. Thanks!

Are you an outdoor enthusiast, gardener, or foodie that wants a better understanding of how little pollinators work their magic? Looking for a GREAT gift? Come learn what all the buzz is about :)

This is a fun opportunity to get to inspect a busy beehive. You'll get the chance to explore the complex and beautiful makeup of our sweet friends.

First, we’ll suit up in protective gear. Then we’ll head to the Apiary where you'll learn about the art of beekeeping and the various tools used. Now it's time to inspect a hive. Hold a frame covered with 100's of bees ... a great photo opp! Find Drones, Workers, Brood and hopefully the Queen! Press your finger into the comb and taste the freshest honey ever! When all done it's now time to be a "Chef" and do a honey & food pairing. This is such a sweet experience for all :)

I'm a native Californian who loves teaching backyard beekeeping at the The PurrFect Honey Apiary. I give talks on "Beekeeping Like a Girl" and "Pretty Pollinator Gardens." I also love teaching “Make Mead With A Beekeeper” - another fun Airbnb Experience! My goal is to promote beekeeping and be an advocate for the well-being of bees.

Beeing a newbee with Alison & Hobbes is a fantastic warm, hospitable, charming, and enlightening experience. Both Alison & Hobbes are very welcoming, considerate, and makes sure everyone is included at the event. I learned a lot about bees and had my own first hand experience with the gentle insects. The experience truly makes me want to be a beekeeper someday and it was very cool to taste the variations in honey and how the honey produced change throughout the year depending on the flowers the bee extracted pollen from.

I loved this! Alison is super knowledgeable and answered our many curious bee questions. I went with a group of four, and it was lovely spending time with the bees getting to know them in a safe, comfortable environment.
