What you'll do
Learn about the Bees
With our knowledge and experience, we will provide you with initial Do's and Don'ts when working with the bees and their family.
Suit up!
We will provide the necessary Bee Suit's and gloves, please wear appropriate clothing it can get warm in these suits, also no open-toed shoes!
Just getting comfortable
Some of our guests are a little apprehensive, so we take the time to just let you get comfortable being around the Bees.
Light the smoker and jump on in!
This is where we get to see all of the workings of the Colony. We will explain all that is going on and if we are lucky we will spot the queen!
Pictures with your new friends!
We will provide plenty of opportunities for you to get up close and personal with your new family, and selfies are always required!
Revel in the surrealism
Take a moment and be proud of what you have learned, and just how close you have become with one of nature's true miracles.
This unique hands-on experience is the best way to learn about the importance of honeybees! We will suit up and open up the hive to see how bees live, work, and produce honey. You will definitely leave with greater knowledge and understanding of our pollinator friends and the inner workings of a honeybee colony.
Other things to note
If you have a known allergy to bee, wasp, or yellow jacket venom, sadly you are prohibited from participating in this experience.
In keeping with safe social distancing practices, we're monitoring group sizes and restricting combinations of multiple parties to TWO parties ONLY (sold out or not!)

I am a co-founder of BayBees Honey which is a family-owned and operated apiary on the Eastern Shore of Maryland. We focus on conservation and education while spreading awareness of the importance of preserving our local pollinators in an effort to help save the Bay Bees! We love and appreciate our customers, so feel free to schedule a tour of one of our bee yards. All proceeds from tours, classes, rentals, and donations go directly back into the apiary and the bees! We at BayBees Honey don't do it because it sounds good, we at BayBees Honey do it because we care.

Lauren is full of knowledge and interesting anecdotes and she easily answered our many questions! Donning our bee suits and looking into each of the hives was exhilarating; while the honey tastings afterwards was relaxing and enjoyable. We were amazed at the distinct flavors of each of the honeys. We learned so much; it was a very worthwhile experience.

We attended the "A Day in the Hive" on one of the last days of the season and Lauren remained very communicative throughout the entire process letting me know if weather may impact our trip. Thankfully the weather held out and we are so thankful it did. Lauren provided such a welcoming, thoughtful, and educational experience. Looking down into the hive and learning how bees communicate and work together while having thousands of buzzing bees happily going about their day was surreal. We never felt in danger and Lauren was awesome about explaining every detail that goes into beekeeping.
Handling parts of the hive was awesome, but the trip kept going with samples of honey from around the world coupled with detailed explanations of what environmental factors leads to the honey's taste and viscosity.
If you ever wanted to dip you toe in the water of beekeeping don't hesitate to book your experience with Lauren and BayBees. We're still talking about how great of a time we had, and get a sweet reminder each time we use the honey we bought from BayBees. Thank you Lauren for creating a memory for us that will last forever!!!
