The experience with Khawaii was a complete success. I felt in good hands with her from the start and all my questions were answered patiently. During the market visit I felt in safe hands and the transportation to the market and location with their own car was comfortable and very well organised. I felt very comfortable in her private house, which is clean, and cooking in the kitchen was really fun.

The experience was exceptional. The host is well traveled and has a sophisticated palate which allows her to draw similarities from other cuisines.

Lovely experience being welcomed into the home and experiencing the wholesale market. The day was like meeting up with an old friend to cook and catch up more than a strict cooking class. As a solo traveler, that hospitality was quite welcome. The food itself was delicious and sharing it with the family was a nice touch. It doesn't hurt that the location overlooks a beautiful beach

This was undoubtedly an authentic experience. Khawaii and her mum were the most gracious hosts and I got to learn a lot. The pace was perfect for me and it was very interactive - I got to ask as many questions as I needed throughout the preparation and cooking of one of my favorite dishes, Biriani. I also learned how to make the refreshing mkwaju (tamarind) juice, a local treasure. Awesome experience, awesome hosts. I would highly recommend it to anyone who wishes to learn the how and why of authentic Swahili cuisine.
