What you'll do

Dimsum can be translated to mean snack. In this experience we will be trying out iconic dimsum as well as some other snacks beloved by the locals.

We'll meet up at the Binondo Church and learn a brief history of the area. Then make our way towards our first stop where we'll be sampling some baked savory filled pastries reminiscent of an empanada.

We then make our way to a hole-in-the-wall dumpling place and try out some fresh hand made dumplings.

Next, we walk along the main street of Chinatown as we take in the different sights and sounds before making our way to our next stop and try some fluffy meat buns stuffed with sweet and savory pork.

Soon after, we'll squeeze our way through the long lines and try out some dimsum classics such as Crystal Shrimp Dumplings and Bearcurd Rolls washed down with iced milk tea.

We'll continue our walk deeper into Chinatown and try a different kind of bun, filled with a meatball.

Then top off our experience with sweet treats from 2 different bakeries.
Other things to note
Dress light and casual to battle heat/humidity. But keep it modest.
Travel towards the meet up point early.
Let me know your food restrictions.
Not a suitable activity for Vegans or Vegetarians.

Meaningful experience for my husband who had not been back to the Philippines in 40 years. JIan is so personable and so knowledgeable about the area - finding some of these restaurants would have been difficult for any non-local to find.

Very fun tour that was personalized to our interests. Jian took around Chinatown, allowing us to try dishes we would have never tried ourselves. He offered stories and background about the food, culture and restaurants we visited for a very local experience. The tour ended with a stop at a souvenir store (our request) and Jian went above and beyond when he stayed with us to ensure we didn't get "tourist prices." Would highly recommend!

Jian was a great guide who was very knowledgable about the area and food. We booked it last minute and ended up being the only people on the tour, which was a nice surprise. The food was great and it was helpful to have someone show us around the area since the Chinatown in Manila is very hectic.

This is a food tour you need to come hungry for because it is jam packed with so many authentic China town tastings. We tasted lumpia, buns, dumplings, sweets, and even some more obscure iconic foods that you ought to take the tour to discover yourself. Our tour guide brought us in on the history of China town as we walked through the streets and he defined the foods to make it very easy for us to understand. This was a very upbeat and cultural tour and we left full and more educated. If you need a China town guide this tour is for you!!
