What you'll do

If Amsterdam is a city of the past, Rotterdam is the city of the future! The extraordinary collection of modern buildings in the city has been the playground of architects since the 2nd World War when the city center was bombed flat. The liberation that came with having no historical center gave way to world-wide known fame of the city's experimental architecture. The buildings are flashy, ambitious and sometimes even humorous! And I am a writer and architect who has been telling stories and designing buildings in Rotterdam! Join me for a walking tour in this futuristic city and discover what are the stories behind how these modern structures came to existence and what ideals their architecture represents.

Onur Can

I am an architect and writer who has moved to Rotterdam 8 years ago attracted by the avant-garde architecture that the city has. Over the years, as I was working as an architect in the city, I had many friends and relatives visiting the city and I told the stories of the buildings, city life and some juicy, insight into what it is like to work in offices that create them which always gets people excited the most! I am looking forward to giving you an insight into the buildings, how they are made and what they can offer to the city life! I am hoping that it will change the way you look at buildings in Rotterdam and elsewhere.

Where you'll be

We will be going from one building to another and in-between I will choose the routes where there are note-worthy buildings, at works and streetscapes to discover. Although the buildings we visit will remain the same, I will take different streets depending on the interests of the group.
