What you'll do

Cook with one of the best chefs ever: Our grandma, Nonna Nerina!

She and her sisters will show you how to prepare the perfect handmade pasta—no machines, just your hands, the freshest local ingredients, and love.

All of these women started to make pasta in their childhood, keeping alive a tradition that is slowly disappearing. And they are ready to pass it to you!

You’ll be part of our crazy big family for a day and join us as we walk the tiny medieval streets of Palombara Sabina to Grandma’s kitchen, located in the old winepress where my great-grandpa used to make wine that the community tapped straight from the barrel (or in Grandma's home... according to the weather). It's a special place for my family and the entire village.

We will cook Ravioli, Fettuccine and Farfalle... you will be in a food coma at the end of the experience!

Please Note: Nonna Nerina is 83 yo so she could feel tired. In that case there will be Grandma Angela, Auntie Giovanna and all the rest of the family to take care of you!!!

Whenever I sat in my grandma's kitchen growing up, she’d make pasta while sharing memories of her own mom and grandma. I soon realized my generation was missing something important: The handmade pasta techniques and traditions passed down through the ages.

I asked if I could post photos online, to which she replied, “Do what you want, I don’t understand you at all.” Today, she knows what an impact she’s making because people from all over the world come to our home to cook with her, making her very happy.

This was without a doubt one of the most special experiences we’ve had abroad, and easily our favorite experience from our trip to Italy. The entire family made us feel so welcome from the moment we booked the experience all the way to the very end where they waited to make sure we got on the train back to Rome okay. The experience itself exceeded our expectations and made us feel so welcome, like we were a part of the family. A notable special touch included Nonna Angela sautéing up some vegetables from her garden especially for us after we talked about how we hadn’t had a single vegetable since arriving in Italy 😂 I will be recommending this to anyone planning a trip to Italy.

What an experience this was for my family. After an incredibly busy 3 days in Rome we decided to spend our last day learning to make pasta with Nonna and their wonderful family. Originally I made reservations for just my husband and daughter, but had a change of heart and asked if it would be okay to bring my whole family to learn (3 kids, ages 8,7, and 1.5 years). They warmly welcomed us all!! When we arrived in their small sweet village they took a few moments to share their church and a little bit of Sabina history before we got to business with the pasta! When it was time to meet Nonna and the family, wow...it was like stepping into an experience with my own family. We laughed, we learned, we shared stories...and the pasta...changed my view on Italian eating forever. We even got to try fresh pressed olive oil, which they made themselves (AMAZING). If you are reading this, stop and just book with them. This was hands down my favorite part of our family trip, because it truly touched my heart. It was so much more than just learning to make pasta! Whenever I get to visit Rome again I will most definitely be sharing another experience to learn from Nonna and her wonderful family.

Ahhh. If you are on the edge and not sure just book this. This is a must do when you are in the area. Nonna is the sweetest human being you will meet. It felt like family at times. You learn the traditional ways, share some laughs and enjoy true homemade food. This town is blessed to have these Nonnas. I did not want to leave. Great memories that we will never forget.

Everything was amazing. Chiara and Nonna were very helpful and supportive, full of energy and fun. The experience is wonderful. Everything is very traditional, from the fresh pasta we made, until the house and the whole village. A true Italian experience!

I honestly can’t say enough good things about this experience. Nonna Angela and Angela really made it a perfect experience. The pasta making was a lot of fun, I couldn’t have asked for a better group to attend with, and you really do leave feeling like family. If you’re questioning if you should do this. Stop. Do it!
