This.was.excellent!!! We met @ Templo Santo Domingo with Baldo who was extremely friendly, hospitable, and down to earth. Sonia's house was a 25 minute ride in an a/c Mercedes van in Soledad Etla. Baldo explained everything clearly and was funny. DO NOT EAT before you go!!! 😄. There's more than enough food!!! There's something special about learning about the culture and how they prepare food. Also, getting to partake in making it while being offered Mezcal, aguas frescas, etc. We made mole verde, tetelas, memelas, and empanadas. Then we got to eat what we made. Vanilla and mango ice cream was delicious!!! You'll have an opportunity to eat chapulines (grasshoppers) and fire ants. The grasshoppers were surprisingly good & tasty!!! Sonia was very down to business. Baldo and the rest of the family were VERY welcoming and hospitable. If you're in doubt...DO IT!! You won't regret it! A GREAT experience to understand the Oaxacan culture & cuisine. 10 stars!!!!
