What you'll do

Explore the waterways surrounding Fidalgo Island and Anacortes on a classic 28-foot sailboat with me, Captain Jon! We begin near Skyline Marina in Anacortes where there will be a safety briefing at the dock before departing. After motoring out of the breakwater, the sails go up and the world is ours to explore! Depending on the wind and sea conditions we may choose to head west through turbulent Burrows Pass into picturesque Rosario Strait. What we do and where we go is up to you (and mother nature)! Stunning views of Mt. Baker, the Cascade and Olympic mountain ranges and local islands including Lopez, Orcas, Decatur, Blakely, James, Cypress, Lummi, Guemes, Burrows, Allan, Whidbey and Fidalgo Island surround the waterway. Should you want to learn about sailing and have some real hands-on training, hear a little about the local maritime history or simply want to have a drink and enjoy the ride, I will give you the tour YOU want!

Jon

I'm a self-made Captain, lover of the Ocean and the outdoors, sailing and being out on the water! I want to share my passion for sailing with you, around the beautiful San Juan Islands. I am licensed by the United States Coast Guard as a 100 ton Master of Inland Waters. My credential allows me to take 6 passengers for-hire aboard vessels such as the one in this listing. I have experience sailing open oceans, inland waterways, commercial fishing and giving guided tours throughout the Pacific Northwest, Alaska, and Mexico. I bring a unique blend of sailing and boating knowledge, local history and nature observation with an enthusiastic approach to learning together for an afternoon of enjoyment!

Where you'll be

Departing Flounder Bay and passing Burrows Island you will be greeted with the great open waterway of Rosario Strait. Encounters with marine wildlife such as seals, river otters, porpoises and killer whales are not uncommon (however not guaranteed). Crossing Rosario Strait, the gateway to the San Juan Islands to the west, is a sight to be seen! There are stunning views of a dozen local islands, mountains and the best wind in the San Juans!
