Master Tenshin is extremely experienced and has the most wonderful way of teaching. He is a true educator and genuinely loves sharing art and culture. All of his proceeds go to his npo in Vietnam. I enjoyed it so much I decided to become a continuing private student. It doesn’t matter if you’ve not had any experience, he is thoughtful and patient. He prepares well and even gave me a personalized gift. I can’t recommend him enough. The experience was so enjoyable and fun. I learned a lot.

Tenshin speaks great English, so communication is not an issue at all. He is also very friendly. One might think of calligraphy as something taken very seriously, and that is true, but Tenshin keeps it very relaxed and comfortable. His passion simply rubs off you. Definitely a great introductory experience to calligraphy for a beginner like me. He also prepares some surprises for guests and you should definitely sign up and find out. :)

My Airbnb experience with Tenshin Sensei was a delight! He is an enthusiastic and patient teacher, and I learned so much about both calligraphy and Japanese culture from him. Because I’m not a great artist, I was a little nervous before the class and wasn’t sure how it would go, but the teacher explained everything thoroughly and immediately made me feel comfortable. I was able to create some calligraphy that I feel proud of! It was great, too, to chat with the teacher and learn about Japanese life and the organization that the proceeds of this class benefit. I highly recommend this workshop to everyone, whether or not you consider yourself an artist :) Thank you for the excellent experience!!

What a wonderful piece of Japanese culture and tradition I experienced! Although Tenshin is an expert in Shodo he made me feel very comfortable during our class. I thoroughly enjoyed this experience and would recommend this to those wanting to learn more about Japanese culture!

We had a wonderful experience with Tenshin-San. He was a positive and fun teacher. I appreciated his Japanese cultural lessons and stories about his teaching life and NPO helping Vietnamese children. I am grateful for everything we learned and would highly recommend his class!

Highly recommended. You get to learn from a master with a heart of gold and will to teach. One of the most positive experiences I had while in Japan.
