What you'll do

We'll meet at the new Essex St. Market which is a great destination to visit to gather the ingredients needed for the dish we choose to make.

We'll walk back to my place in the E.Village, 5 or 6 blocks north, where I can point out great galleries and share some neighborhood - lore. I'll have the recording equipment set up. We'll coordinate your arrival w/the brown paper bag surprising me with the ingredients, you'll learn knife skills, various cooking techniques & zero waste mindful lifestyle, discuss current events, & sharing valuable travel tips. Then we'll eat together.
Other things to note
Lobby area of the Essex St. Market. North end of the building. Next to the Sugar Sweet Sunshine counter.

Where you'll be

The new Essex St. market is quickly becoming a destination for visitors to New York. On the walk back to my place, 5 or 6 blocks north, I'll point out popular East Village & Lower East Side galleries, restaurants and some -80's lore about the neighborhood little of which is frequently shared.

Donna is vibrant lady with a PASSION for what she does. We went on a fun and wild search for the perfect cauliflower for our rice! Not only did I get to see the wonderful Essex Market but Union Square Market as well. We shared stories about our lives while walking through NYC, and chatted over the magical Cauliflower rice we made. It was a truly amazing adventure!

Donna had a plan for the event. We cooked a Spanish Tortilla. She audio recorded the whole event and I look forward to the resultant podcast. Thanks Donna. Ed

Experience was a little bit crazy, definitely open, friendly and delicious. For me as a traveller cooking was not the main attraction of this experience but to have the opportunity to meet such a crazy and great woman as Donna as well her friend Colin that joined us. It was a very relaxed atmosphere, Donna made me feel at home at her place and if only I had more days to spend in the city, I would have gotten some prime tips on where to go, what to do. We cooked a clam chowder - a dish I have never tried before, which was fresh, healthy and super delicious. All-in-all a really unique and great experience that made my New York visit somehow more real.
