What you'll do
We'll explore my favorite location in the Bay Area, Rodeo Beach, a wide sandy expanse that sits between Rodeo Lagoon and Rodeo Cove. This spot is ripe with natural fauna: shorebirds such as the double-crested cormorant, the elegant egret, and the threatened brown pelican. Our journey will start in the cove at low tide. After seeing the pillow lava lining the bay, we will circle the lush lagoon, finding native plants and flowers along the way. We'll climb adjacent hills to see the waves of the Pacific Ocean crash over rock sculptures, and I'll share insights into the ancient geology that cradles the beach as well as life on the shoreline. We'll end with a locally sourced picnic on the beach.
Locally sourced picnic We'll eat famous San Francisco sourdough bread, local gourmet cheeses and salumi, seasonal fruit, and…
Non-alcoholic beverages Let me know any dietary restrictions you have. Bring wine, if you'd like.
