What you'll do

Welcome to Philly!

Morals & Murals: Tales from Our Hood is a very personal and interactive storytelling journey of survival and resilience as a third generation Black family in Philly. During this educational experience guests will be invited to safe space to immerse themselves in a raw conversation concerning race, mental health, injustices and more with a true native in the under-served hoods of Philly.

Along the way, we'll come across dope murals, both the joyous and painful faces of locals, and Black owned businesses to support. This experience is perfect for EVERYONE especially allies ready to grow through discomfort and dismantle the system that was built on the backs of Black + POC.

TRIGGER WARNING: stories told via this experience may include sexual assault, PTSD, suicide attempts, and depression. This conversation might be painful, emotional or uncomfortable. Growth comes from this discomfort.

Please join us in doing the anti-racism work needed for real change!

See you soon!

Chrissy

Please note: This experience is available seven days a week between 10am-6pm for groups of three or more. Please reach out with your preferred date and time!

Being a third generation Philly resident I lived and breathe this city for over 30 years! Raised in the heart of North Philly before Temple took over, I have seen the beauty of urban living first hand. The eclectic nature of every hood of Philly is truly unique and has been carved via blood, sweat, drug wars and tears of its natives. Philly's overall personality is very raw but few hoods have held on their grittiness post gentrification. I will give you the uncut story of my experiences overcoming many obstacles while on my path to thriving in this one of a kind city.

My name is Kia, I have a travel company, Passport Poppin (@_passportpoppin on IG) where I host group trips around the world. Since COVID, I have been dedicating my time to personally exploring US cities and I am so glad I found this experience In Philly! Chrissy is very passionate and knowledgeable about the history and culture of Philly. She was born and raised there and has such a deep connection to the city. I love when hosts are genuinely invested in making sure their guests feel welcomed, learn/try something new, and enjoy a new adventure in a city. We saw breathtaking murals in 4 different parts of the city. The tour really immerses you into Philly to give a genuine experience from a local's POV- which is essential to get whenever you travel. I am so glad I found Chrissy, and I cannot wait to be able to host a group in Philly with her! :)

I had an amazing time on this tour with Chrissy and saw parts of Philly that I never would have seen if I stayed within the touristy sector. This is an absolute must if you're wanting to see the real Philly from a local's eye. Chrissy also introduced me to water ice which was delicious and the perfect summer treat..

This was a wonderful tour. I learned a lot about murals in different communities in Philadelphia outside of the usual tourist areas. Chrissy was an excellent hostess. I would definitely recommend this tour.
