What you'll do

I will either pick you up or meet you at the trail head (I will provide the meeting coordinates). This hike does not require technical ability, and I am proud of the incredibly beautiful scenery that will amaze and astonish you. This hike may best be described as mild, covering about 2 miles and 2 hours, but might be considered to be intermediate depending on your degree of capability.

This hike is a sampler of our local state park, but I will show you sights that most people don't see, including a gorgeous baby slot canyon (please don’t tell anyone its location), a lava tube (!!), a sphinx (!!!), a young arch (!!!), and incredible scenery, some of which were used in famous movies. In addition, I know of amazing locations for photos that will surprise your friends and families. From the trail head we will hike for approximately 2 hours through the incredible red, white, orange, pink and gray sandstone hills, valleys and narrow cracks that make up this area. And naturally I will regale you with local history, descriptions and explanations of the flora and fauna.

In addition, I keep this hike short and easy so that you can have plenty of time and energy to engage in other activities in the area.

You will love this hike!

I have been a hiking guide in the St. George Utah area for 23 years leading hikers for Green Valley Spa, and The Biggest Loser Spa. I was a geology lecturer for Road Scholar (touring and hiking for retired persons), teaching about local rock formations, volcanic activity, the Colorado Plateau, the Great Basin, and other interesting geologic phenomena in this area. I've studied extensively the flora and fauna native to the deserts of the southwest, and additionally I am certified in first aid and CPR.
