What you'll do

In my beloved Tulum there are spots right downtown but slightly off the noisy tourist crossroads. By walking a couple of blocks we will have arrived in a quiet, tranquil ambiance where locals “recharge their batteries”.
First, we will visit a lovingly adorned fruit stand where my good friend and the owner will show and explain us many varieties of Mexican chilies as well as some exotic fruits- you will have a chance to sample this interesting fusion of opposite tastes. You also will have a chance to ask question about typical local cuisine - the energy here is loving and family centered, it practically invites to a soulful dialogue!
Then we will cross the street and get into a real oasis of health - a well-equipped sports complex and huge park. You will see different Mexicans- playing with children, chasing a ball or building abs. You can try equipment for yourself - the atmosphere here is of unclouded happiness. That is why I chose this place to tell you what I’m grateful to Mexico for -something you will not find in tourist brochures.
In conclusion, we will walk to the rustic Maya neighborhood and meet Doña Romi -a cheerful owner of a tiny but cozy and picturesque eatery to sample authentic Yucatec dishes, prepared with heart & soul.
Other things to note
This is a walk with stops and seating opportunity. My goal is to share “insider information” with you - different Tulum with a focus on its people.

Originally from St. Petersburg,Russia I lived for over two decades in Aspen,CO owning a business. 5 years ago I left everything American behind and moved to Tulum because I love the sea, the bike and the Latin American smile. Here I am learning from the locals of unhurriedness and an innate state of gratitude, which I write about in my blog. Next year my book will be published in Russian, "Memoirs of the ladies' bicycle."

Where you'll be

The Sánchez Jiménez family fruit shop, known only to the locals. There we will learn about all the varieties of Mexican chile peppers and taste the spiced fruits.
The huge sports park - Unidad Deportiva -hidden from the tourist bustle, perfectly lighted and conducive to rest both the body and the soul.
A colorful home kitchen-canteen, very rarely visited by tourists.

Olga is great energetic and positive person with interesting life story. It was a perfect night to talk about city, walk around, get a local food, and talk about Olga's history and hobbies. I definitely highly recommend this experience for those who're looking non-boring-historical tour and for those who're looking to speak with very energetic person. Many thanks, Olga!

It was my second day in Tulum and going on Olgas tour was a great way to get acclimated with the city and to see a more authentic Tulum. Olga is very personable and has lived an incredible life. We had the most amazing Mayan food at the end of the tour. You can tell Olga has a real love for this city and the people and joining her on this tour is a great way to experience that for yourself. *Also I will definitely be reading up on “The little Prince” 😉

We had a great time with Olga on her Tulum tour! It was really nice to walk around and learn some of the little nuances about the city that we would not have been able to do that without Olga. Her love and passion for Tulum and its people are apparent through her attitude and interactions with the locals. It was a joy to get to meet some of them. Highly recommend this experience if someone wants to get a unique and genuine Tulum experience!

Olga has her own perspective about Tulum's culture and how it is shown in their traditions and their food. As a Tulum resident for many years, Olga shows you how local people live and how she understands Mexican Kindness. She is friend of everyone in the streets, and introduces to a lot of local people who can show you other vision of Tulum.

Olga was friendly, kind and very energetic person. I participated in this tour because I wanted to know the life of the people in Tulum. She took me to the local fruits shop , the street with thoughtful kids wall art, the park people enjoying sports with smiles at the beautiful sunset time.... There it was! Although the story of Olga herself inspired me so much. Her tour was consisted of the passion as well as relaxation.
