What you'll do

You will be asked to travel (15 min drive) with us to our secret “playgrow” to hand-pick some herbal and vegetable produces. They will be used as key ingredients for the four or five delicious and carefully curated Thai dishes, which you will be encouraged to learn in our small cooking studio.
The menu will change according to the ingredients we get seasonally.

Although we offer Thai cooking experience, we focus more on telling stories about how Thai culture is presented through our food culture. Please be prepared for being asked to take off your shoes (come with sandals if possible) and for a short boat ride.

No cooking experience needed.
Other things to note
Prepare to get dirty, we will literally get soily, it is our harvesting ground where you can't deny to dip your feet into dirts.
Make sure you don't carry large luggage or valuable items with you.

We're a couple sharing the same passion about culture and lifestyle. They're our fields of interest as well as our full-time work as writer/photographer and designers.
We value local producers, and their intention not to overgrow their products with chemical substances. They have variety of fruits and vegetables, some are really rare and super local.
We have never seen ourselves as professional Thai cuisinier, we know some tricks, learned from our parents and grandparents.
We always seek for more knowledge about food culture and look forward to share with people looking for the same pursuit.

Where you'll be

We are located in Bangkoknoi district, an underrated historical area west of Bangkok. We will firstly meet at a public park, before travelling to a nearby unseen vegetable garden. After spending about an hour there, we will bring you back to our home-studio for the cooking lessons.

From strolling in the floating market, visiting the farm and its owner, and choosing ingredients to understanding basic Thai cooking culture, making own dishes and enjoying the yummy rewards, everything was pleasurable!

Wonderful experience. We enjoyed getting out of Bangkok for a while, have a boat tour and pick our own veggies for lunch. Great cooking class. Very nice to cook in Teerepan's outside kitchen. Really well-equipped. Delicious food! Our hosts went out their ways to make us feel comfortable. We highly recommend it.

This was a once-in-a-lifetime excellent experience. Our hosts took us on a boat ride to a local city farm, we picked some vegetables, and returned to their charming home and studio to cook four Thai dishes. The ingredient lists are long and the hosts patiently explained the process. The cooking went very smoothly with the two hosts working in perfect harmony. In the end we sat down to a late afternoon lunch - cooked by ourselves. I highly recommend this experience.”

This is one of the great things I was able to do in Thailand. We learned about Thai culture through food. I dont cook much (skill level from 1 to 10 is about a 2.5) but I was still able to have a great time. 1) We met at the market. Took a short boat trip to where the vegetables/fruits from the market are sourced. We picked some vegetables that would be used in our cooking experience later. It is great to see where the crops in the market come from and it is great to see how the small farms are organized. Our hosts were awesome guides that gave a lot of historical insight to the canals that we were passing through and the way-of-life of the people that lived there. 2) We then proceeded to the hosts' house where we were going to have the main experience. We had drinks and snacks when we arrived. 3) We started out with a short (15 minute) and super interesting lecture intro on the history of the food we were going to prepare. I found this to be really interesting because I learned that a lot of the ingredients to the food we were going to use to prepare traditional Thai food were not from Thailand. 4) We then began the cooking process of each dish (Pandan Chicken, Green Curry, Kaprow and Papaya Salad). We made everything in 3 hours... quite tiring because this is the first time I've prepared a real meal from scratch. 5) It is useful to note that the preparation and cooking process was not difficult... I just followed whatever instruction I was given. 6) After the entire prep and cooking experience, we had dinner and really interesting conversation about our experience in Thailand so far. 7) We ended dinner with dessert (Mango w/ Sticky rice) courtesy of our hosts. Overall, this was the most meaningful experience I have taken away from my 5 weeks in Thailand so far. I highly recommend this experience for anyone that wants to do something different and a little bit off the beaten path.

This is my first time experiencing Airbnb Experience and everything exceeded my expectation. The vegetable field that we went is like a hidden gem in the busy bustling Bangkok. The cooking class itself is very hands-on and fun. I particularly love stories and insight about Thai food provided by the hosts. I’m Thai and was surprised to learn about those stories that I never knew before. The home cooking studio is minimally well designed. Kitchenware and decorative items are selected with attention and reflective of local yet modern Thai style. All in all, I would recommend this experience to Thais and foreigners alike. It’s a rare experience that you can find in Bangkok on your own. Thank you Bow and C for this special experience!
