What you'll do
Please note scheduling is flexible (If needed). See our working private glass shop as you climb the spiral staircase to my second-floor studio. You will watch a demonstration and then learn how to light a torch, pick your colors, melt some glass and make some beads with the option to be shown how to create marbles, pendants or small sculptures (depending on your interests). Please be aware that for beginners with this material, results may vary in terms of the success of the finished objects. That said, many beginners come away with pieces that they are quite proud of. Please note: Any objects you make will have to cool down slowly in a kiln overnight, so they will be shipped to you at no extra cost. Glass can be a challenging medium, but the most important thing you will take home is the experience of working with molten glass!
I have spent the last eighteen years sharing with others my passion for glass.. I have worked as an instructor teaching glass techniques in many New England art campuses such as Snow Farm (MA), Waterfalls Arts (ME), Brookfield Craft Center (CT), and Sharon Arts Center (NH), as well as teaching out of my own studio here for years. My work has been on display at the National Liberty Museum in Philadelphia, The Brattleboro Museum and Art Center here in Vermont, and my work has traveled the country with a glass flower competition. https://www.Instagram.com/martabern_glass/
I will provide the studio materials and instruction.

Where you'll be
You will be making glass objects on a torch in my studio towards the top of a steep hill. Because of this, and due to some winter weather we sometimes get here in Vermont, I'm happy to reschedule if necessary. This is a working artist studio, and at different times there may be other art making in process, along with the various goings-on of a typical artists' workspace.
