What you'll do

On arrival, after a welcoming cup of tea or coffee, we will take the short 5 minute walk into the woods where we will be based for the day. I will start by showing you which trees to look for when choosing firewood, and how best to prepare the firewood for a good fire, including use of various tools. We’ll then look at how to light a fire, before you build and light your own fire. With the fire burning, we’ll start to prepare lunch or dinner, using fresh seasonal ingredients in their natural form. Fresh vegetables, fresh fish or meat.

With food cooking, there’s time to learn some basic whittling and pyrography skills to make a gift to take away, before tucking into your homemade tasty meal.

Sessions will be customised based on the guests and the weather conditions on the day!

This experience was incredible. My partner and I thoroughly enjoyed it, and learnt so much on the course. Laura was a great teacher, and gave us such invaluable knowledge. She was very insightful, and answered many questions that we had. Cooking the food over the fire we made was delicious! The whittling was also a lot of fun. We loved the whole experience!

My kids loved it. They are 4 and 6, and they loved making the Elder jewellery, and coking potatoes, fish and chocolate bananas. Lauren was super friendly, connected with the kids and let them challenge themselves with the tasks. They learned a lot!
