Rouchene took us up the Atlas Mountains Talamrout Summit with about 24 hours notice. He made a special trip up just for us which we really appreciated! We were looking for a moderate to hard hike (we're not professional hikers but we're in shape) and this was indeed a physical challenge. It's important to pace yourselves on this hike we learned. If you can run 5K and regularly exercise, it's doable. (If you think it's just an easy jaunt, you'd be wrong :)
DO try to bring hiking boots as the trail does have a significant incline and the surface tends to be hard and with a lot of loose rocks and sand. We had running sneakers and we suffered a bit slipping often on the way down.
The traditional lunch was great in a small adobe up at the halfway point that was a nice respite from the sun.
Rouchene knows these mountains like the back of his hand, born and raised in the village below, and attentive to our experience. Highly recommend!
