What you'll do

With warm weather, you'll sit in a patio-style seating arrangement facing the West slope of Pikes Peak where you can relax, enjoy the scenery, and the wildlife. I'll bring out birdseed and call out to let the birds know it's breakfast time. We'll provide you with all the birdseed you need to keep our feathered friends interested. I'll be available to help identify the various species of birds as they come in and provide a myriad of interesting facts about the different breeds.

In cold weather, we'll start by trying to bring the Pygmy Nuthatches and Mountain Chickadees in to eat from your hand! Naturally, I can't guarantee our feathered friends will be that brave, but it happens often! Then, come inside to warm up and you can sit at our picture window and watch the birds come right up to the deck.

Although our birds change with the seasons, we always have Stellar Jays, Pinyon Jays, and big, noisy Nutcrackers, as well as several varieties of Nuthatches and Woodpeckers, and a variety of small finches.

In the meantime, we'll serve coffee, hot cocoa, or tea and warm, homemade cinnamon rolls fresh from the oven. Enjoy the mountain air and marvel in the beauty of nature for as long as you'd like on our mountain property.

Hi! I'm Kristina Etter. I never imagined becoming the "crazy bird lady" when I was younger, but here in the mountains, I've identified over 50 different species of birds right in my back yard! Come enjoy the mountain air, with piping hot, homemade cinnamon rolls and coffee, hot cocoa, or tea. I'll put out some birdseed and we'll watch a wide range of Colorado mountain birds come in for their breakfast! In the spring and summer, we'll sit outside and enjoy the warm sun. In the winter, we'll might spend a few minutes outside trying to coax the Pygmys and Mountain Chickadees to eat from your hand, but then you can sit inside at our picture window for a full view of the many, many birds who come to visit us daily.

These hosts are AMAZING! We had the best time visiting and watching all the birds. Very knowledgeable and friendly we felt at home right away just hanging out with them. We just came for an experience and will definitely be back for a stay with them. Cinnamon rolls are to die for, and the animals and birds you will see are incredible. GO DO THIS!

I loved my bird brunch! Kristina was so sweet and had hot coffee and warm cinnamon rolls waiting for us. She is incredibly knowledgeable about the birds and her love for them shows! I’d love to come back in the summer.

While the birds weren’t as abundant as we hoped, Kristina was very welcoming and knowledgeable about the various birds in the area who have visited her yard. Delicious drinks and the best cinnamon rolls ever, along with some good stories , made for a positive experience. If you go, don’t use google maps. We ended up off road in the snow and felt lost and nervous for a bit.

Gary and Christina were beyond amazing! They personalized the treats to our veg preferences. The conversation was grand. They were a hoot! They invited us to their summer frisbee event. It was such a rare experience and it was exactly what we hoped for in meeting locals in Colorado. We left with a real sense of the people and culture of Colorado just with the lure of feeding birds. Christina’s breadth of knowledge is refreshing. Highly recommend! The birds were great too lol
