What we’ll do

This guided sketch walk focuses on the design and ornamentation of architect Louis H. Sullivan, Chicago's "father of skyscrapers." The buildings and fragments we'll visit provide an opportunity to take a closer look at Sullivan's ornamental designs that combine the organic and the geometric. Architecture history will add context and background while we're filling our sketchbooks with Sullivan's…

What else you should know

I encourage you to bring your own sketchbook—no larger than 13" x 17"—and pencils only. Folding stools, large backpacks, and ink pens and markers are not allowed in the Art Institute of Chicago.
