What you'll do

A walking tour of the clean, cultured and progressive city of Copenhagen. This is about being in the fresh air, you can expect correct social distancing procedures, great exercise, a deluge of fascinating and unusual information, and great fun! On this tour though we'll delve beyond the flashy statistics, and try to get to grips with understanding a little more the national psyche. We'll discover how the locals cope with the chronic darkness of the winter months, when the sun staggers up at 9:00 and then gradually fades away at 15:00. We'll hear about all the boozing, candle burning and flag waving. The brilliant environmental efforts which leave the air so fresh, the passion for bicycling, divorcing, and the ever popular royal family. You'll get to see the sights too: we'll take in the City Hall, the statue of Hans Christian Andersen, the Tivoli gardens, the site of the first settlement at Christiansborg, a boat ride passing the Opera to Gefions fountain, a glimpse of the Little Mermaid, Kastellet, the Queen’s Palace at Amalienborg, the Marble Cathedral, get to hear about 'Copenhill' power station and ski slope, then back to singing "Wonderful Wonderful Copenhagen" on the colourful harbourside at Nyhavn - where we end the tour.
Other things to note
I welcome groups large and small. Children under 8-years old are free, babies and toddlers welcome.
With group bookings over five, guests are welcome to suggest other time slots to suit - I love big groups!

I've worked as a guide to Copenhagen for eight years, and can explain through vivid storytelling, great humour and energy the secrets of the city; its people, food, scandals, art, architecture, history and attitude. I like to get behind the facades of the grand buildings, and offer instead the quirky and original human stories that bring history to life. Copenhagen has much to be proud of in this well-run, clean, small, wholesome, environmental and forward-thinking country. There's things to laugh about and question too, things that the Danes might not quite realise about themselves but that my all-seeing international eyes seize upon and wrestle into shape for a little gentle stand-up comedy.

I had a great time on this tour! I was able to get a great view of Copenhagen with insider details from someone who has lived in Copenhagen for over 19 years. I also enjoyed the book that was included with the tour :)

Heather is such a lovely person and has a really charming and bright personality. This tour felt like a very fun and laid back walk with a friend, we had some nice conversations and felt like we learned so much about Copenhagen. She has really been to so many places and has lived in Copenhagen for a very long time so she knows a lot, which made for a really interesting and fun tour. We felt like after we finished the walk, we saw everything we wanted to see and more. Highly recommend this tour, I really don't think we could have found a better walking tour!

If you want to see all the highpoints of Copenhagen while also learning about the people that live there, this is a great tour for you. Heather has the perspective of a world traveler, and she makes cultural and personal observations that give you a deeper insight into the place and its culture and soul.

Wonderful experience! My friend and I learnt a lot more about Copenhagen. Heather knew about this charming city very well and shared her life experiences with us. We would recommend this tour to everyone, no matter you are staying only for 2 or 3 days or over a week. All in all, it's an experience you can't miss!
