What you'll do

PRIVATE-STYLE EXPERIENCE: 1 - 5 PEOPLE PER GROUP ONLY

Hello! My name Is Sunsanee. I am local Thai girl and this is a page about my family business that I'm making with soul and an open heart.

We have 80+ 5-STARS reviews on Airbnb and travelers usually say that this experience is amazing and probably the best start of the day. I am really happy about that!

Morning ceremony with a personal guide in one of the most beautiful temples in Thailand – Wat Chalong.

We will meet at sunrise at 7 AM to explore the temple in a majestic morning atmosphere. It’s only you and a few local people who come to pray at sunrise time.

At first, we'll pray with the monk and participate in the morning ritual – the most important ritual in the Temple’s day.

After the ritual, we'll bring food to the monk (I'll give it to you).

Food offering is one of the most important in Thailand – in Thai villages you still can see how people especially wake up early to offer food to the monk. Because that ritual brings good luck to your day.

Also, we'll make a prediction by Siamsi fortune-telling. Siamsi sticks – is a traditional Buddhist way to predict the future.

For many centuries Thai locals use this ritual to get answers about the future - there are more than 28 different predictions.
I'll translate your prediction for you from Thai language.

After this, I'll.. (continue reading at section "Your Host"):

..After this, I will bring you around the temple to give you a small excursion about Thai Buddhism. I am from a traditional Thai family, I have a lot of interesting stories to tell.

After this, we will make some photos and go to the temple's lake to make a final ritual.

** We are not a big company – we are a local family business. Our target is not to make more money so normally group is a pretty small - only 1 to 5 people.

So most of the tours going in private style. It helps to keep the best tour quality and keep the morning atmosphere.

A big part of our money from every ticket goes to the temple donations and charity. By joining our tour you also helping to preserve the culture and traditions of Thailand and I am thankful for that.

=> Skip the tourist traps and explore Thailand like a local.

It was an amazing experience. Thanks to Sunsanee, my friend and I felt included in new culture, got to know a lot of things about Buddhism, and spent a wonderful and meaningful morning.

We had previously visited many Buddhist temples, but had never understood the history, symbolism, rituals and how to pray in the correct manner, until our amazing experience with Sunsanee. The experience is very casual, like a good friend showing you around their home. We were very grateful to Sunsanee for sharing her wealth of knowledge with us. We learnt so much from her and gained a spiritual and cultural insight that we will take with us and apply to our everyday lives. The one and half hour experience includes learning how to fold lotus flowers, many offerings and prayers, applying golf leaf, blessing by monk, traditional fortune telling game, tour of the 3 main buildings at Wat , all while Sunsanee is giving you a history lesson. This valuable cultural experience is a wonderful treasure that you will remember always.

This is such an incredible experience!! We’ve been in Thailand for a little over a week so we’ve seen a lot of temples, but this experience allowed us to truly be part of the ceremony, as well as learn tons that we hadn’t heard about elsewhere. I had a great time and wouldn’t hesitate to book this experience again.

This was an enlightening experience on local and general Buddhist practices and interactions with monks. Sunsanee explained the rituals/offerings and meanings behind them. I highly recommend this experience. It was great to have the temple practically to ourselves by arriving so early in the morning.

If you want a solid understanding of how to be respectful at Thai Buddhist temples and better understand the beautiful prayers happening all around, choose this experience. It was so special to share this experience with my friends and family. We have been coming to Thailand for 15 years, but it is not easy to understand what is happening at Thai Buddhist temples without someone guiding you. Sunsanee explained the temple traditions so clearly. And now we understand some of the beautiful temple rituals! We learned how to fold lotus petals and make offerings, the trick to making gold leaf stick to a statue, she translated our fortunes for us, and the meaning of releasing different kinds of fish. We saw a young man's "boat" ceremony as he had his hair cut to become a monk. When we knelt before the principle Buddha of the beautiful temple, Sunsanee said "Tell the Buddha why you have come." So beautiful. Highly recommended.
