I am and chef and founder of the Al Mercat restaurant (Costa Rican product restaurant) I love the countryside, art and cuisine. I am a traveler since I was a child and I enjoy traveling and learning from my beautiful country. I started as a lawyer and then dedicated myself to cooking for 10 years. I studied in France (Le Cordon Bleu Paris), but I love and make Costa Rican cuisine by product. I like to share with all kinds of people and those who are interested in my country; enjoy farms and outdoors, get wet in the rain and understand how our planet works.

Where you'll be

Finca Al Mercat is a green space located 15 minutes from Barrio Escalante. The farm is owned by the Gonzalez Arguedas family and provides 40% of the products we use at the Al Mercat restaurant. It is a learning space on agriculture and Costa Rican cuisine. It has typical species of trees, vegetables and fruits, as well as our greenhouse for herbs, leaves and other vegetables. It is a farm of 1 hectare in the city.

This was a great tour that exceeded my expectations. If you are in San Jose, you should not miss it. It was the freshest meal I had ever eaten, and very interesting to learn about. Also, the listing is new and will be updated... it can be offered in English or Spanish (probably French too). Your guide is very knowledgeable and an amazing chef! I plan to visit the restaurant before I leave. Gracias por todos, José!
