What you'll do
At under 200 years old, the City of Melbourne is a recent addition to the local ecosystem. This Experience is all about finding that hidden eco-system.
First, we'll hop on an iconic Melbourne trams toward the Queen Victoria Markets, where I'll show you the hidden sustainability strategies the markets use to get your food.
Next, I'll take you on a guided shop of the markets. Food will be at your expense, but I'll point you in the direction of some amazing picnic options, for which I'll provide some reusable plastic containers.
Next we'll hop to the other end of the city centre for a guided walk through the Royal Botanic Gardens, stopping by a fern gully before arriving at the Ornamental Lake.
Lastly, I'll lead you on a 30-minute, human powered boat and let you get up-close-and-personal with wildlife that live in (recycled) plastic islands. While you're getting up close and personal with Aussie flora and fauna, you'll be chowing down on your local food from the markets.
Your tour will finish when you return to shore, where you can spend as long as you like exploring the 150 acres in of the Royal Botanic Gardens.

Hi! We're a team from the Port Phillip Eco Centre who have partnered with Walks 101 to offer this Experience.
Port Phillip Eco Centre works at supporting people to mitigate and adapt to climate change and to reduce waste and curtail consumption
Walks 101 is Melbourne's largest and best-reviewed walking tour company.
Last year, we joined forces to create a tour that would profile the amazing urban wilderness we have in our city.
Your tour will be given by John, Hugo, Juliet or one of our other accomplished guides.

The level of activity of local wildlife changes throughout the year, so while I can't promise we'll see animals, I'll try my best (and it's highly likely we'll see lots).
