What you'll do

During our tour, we’re walking in the inner city of Pest, where we’ll visit the most important streets, squares and buildings. We’ll follow the changes of the city’s shape during the centuries, and trying to understand the story of the most important buildings. Hopefully we will get to enjoy a short break in a 'strudel house' typical to the times of Monarchy-era’s Pest, where we'll try out a Hungarian cake, the strudel. Everybody heard about the Parliament building, the Basilica, the Andrássy street. But what lies around them? How does the city looks like which holds all these fascinating places together? Let’s find out the answers together!

I'm a professional tour guide in love with my home city, Budapest. I’m also an archivist working in the City Archives of Budapest, so studying Budapest’s history is my fulltime job. Feeling comfortable in historical, architectural, political and cultural topics, but still remaining a laidback person. As a young man, I already discovered the alternative side of city, knowing what is really ‘in’ the city nowadays. I’m passionate about introducing my clients to all kind of wonders of the city. Based on my experience, I can adjust all of my tours to your interest, making sure all my tours become a pleasant memory.

Matyas is a wonderful storyteller, who turns historical facts into a captivating adventure. There wasn't one single question that he didn't have a well-explained answer to. During our interactive walk through Pest, we've learned a great deal about the intricate history and culture of Budapest. Matyas was thoughtful and attentive, having adjusted the route and pace of the tour to an unusually hot weather that day. Easily one of the best guided walks we've ever had.

Sehr empfehlenswert!
