What you'll do
La Barceloneta is famous for its beach side, but this experience will take you off the beaten track and to the backstage of Barcelona fishermen's culture, still alive as in its original essence.
We will start by walking this maritime barrio that has lots to be discovered: the food market, charming squares, historic anecdotes and its vibrant local life. We will have a delicious seasonal lunch at a SlowFood certified restaurant in the heart of the neighborhood, savoring fresh and farm-to-table products: seafood and eco veggies. Plus, tasting natural wines from Spain!
We will then enter La Barceloneta fish market opened only for professionals or official guided visits like ours: a friendly partnership with El Peix al Plat project. During this visit we will learn about different fishing techniques, local fish species and more peculiarities of this ancient profession. We will also witness the daily fish auction first-hand! And above all, the visit aims to raise awareness of a more responsible and sustainable way of consuming fish.
Live an unique slow (food) experience in La Barceloneta.
Other things to note
Take into account that seasonal tapas is based on fresh fish/seafood and vegetables.
Lunch time will be at Spanish hours: 14h ;)
Closed fishing season (30 days in February 2019)
> We give group price discounts.
> Ask also for private tour options.
> También hablamos ESPAÑOL.

Where you'll be
We will visit the La Barceloneta main square and local side streets, avoiding the main tourist trail. Our seasonal lunch will take place at a SlowFood certified restaurant. Finally we will visit Barcelona fish market in the harbor, an exclusive access for a few certified local guides like us. We will see how boats arrive back to the port with their daily catch, how they unload the fish and we will attend the fish auction.

Our favorite part of the Barcelona trip! Ceci was very thoughtful to make our tour personalized and fun! We bonded straight away discussing sustainable food practices and living. The lunch was delicious and we felt like locals! Then seeing the fishing ships come in and sort their catch for the auction was a once in a lifetime experience. This tour made us interested to start researching where the food we buy at home comes from. This tour is a must. You will become immersed in Catalonian culture while learning useful information you can take home as well.

This Seafood tour is a must do for lovers of seafood and Marine life. Cecilia is wonderfully knowledgeable and has some very good connections with the sustainable fishing boats. Not to mention the delicious food at the non touristy really local restaurant where we ate a memorable lunch. I couldn't have found these places without going on this tour, it was lovely to be so well looked after and explore the Barcelonatta with an expert.

This experience has been very enriching and special since it has allowed me to know how local fishing works, what type of fish they collect and the sustainability of the system. I was able to interact with the fishermen who explained to us what their life and day to day life is like. Also after the visit we could taste awesome fresh fish in the Barceloneta, a very authentic and unique neighborhood. Cecilia is a very nice hostess who is always aware of our doubts, needs and makes you feel at home. It has been a great experience that I recommend to anyone who wants to get into local culture and cuisine in very good company and at a very affordable price. Thanks Ceci!!! See you soon!!
