Smokies Photo Class & Lunch with a Pro

Pigeon Forge, United States

Experience hosted by Syresa & Lonnie

  1. 5.5 hours
  2. Hosted in English

What you'll do

Participants will have small classes teaching them how to use their personal cameras. I will meet with individuals or a group smaller that 6 participants and take them on a hands on photo safari in the Smoky Mountains while teaching them how to operate their camera. Class time runs about 1.5 hrs then we break for lunch at a delicious local BBQ house.
The safari will last 1.5 hours. It will begin with an overall class of how camera operations interact. Basically how to come away from auto setting and get the best images by using camera controls. We then practice camera operations. After that, we hit the road (trails) to photograph the best souvenirs - their own personal photo creations. They take home new knowledge, personal images, and a new appreciation for the art of photography.

I also offer stays at our Airbnb as an option. It was the first resort in Sevier County in 1884. The original cabin that remains is located on Historic Seaton Springs 11 acres. A cantilever barn built during that time, a log structure, babbling creek, and a small lake also occupy the private farm.

I visited the Smokey mountain with family the first time. I tried to explore activities in the area and found this photography class. Syresa is very knowledgeable on photo taking a gave a lot of tips that I will be using in the future. There were only my 17 years ole boy and I in the class so it is personalized enough for us to receive all the attention. The first part of the class is indoor going over the basics of camera setting. I forgot to mention Lonnie and Syresa owns a beautiful BnB and their yard was huge and nice enough for the second part of the class, which is practice the settings we went over in the first part of the class. After that we headed out for lunch, which was included in the package. Then the last part is to walk in the park to practice more shooting skills with moving butterflies, running water and the moving cars. Everything went really well. It was sunny at the first half of the session then it gets cloudy for the second half. We get to practice different settings with different natural lights. We ended the class before it started to rain. Thank you so much for spending your time with us. My son is happy to learn something that he can use for lifetime.

Overall - a really nice experience. The host is great and the location is AMAZING! The opportunities to test old and newly acquired photography skills are endless, and you'll have a nice time sharing photo thoughts with all the people in the group. Especially helpful for newbies - I truly recommend this; even for the more skillful ones - there's still gonna be something to learn. What I can honestly say is that ever since I left that awesome place - my Canon camera's selector moved from A to M, almost 100%. So yeah - I've learned things and I am truly thankful for it!
