What you'll do

We will meet in Kinvara one of my favourite towns along Galway’s coast, a first stop for many along the Wild Atlantic Way. Depending on group size and ability I have multiple walks and hikes ready to go, from the level but scenic walk across ancient roads and older mountains, perfect for families with small children or a buggy to hikes up to hidden holy wells and forgotten churches which will take any explorers breath away. Just let me know what you are able for and I can match the walk/hike to your groups needs.
I will bring you through the Burren pointing out all flora and fauna we pass. The Burren has some extraordinary flowers and animals found nowhere else in Ireland. I will guide you through the ancient spiritual history with many religious markers from both Pagan and Catholic origins. I will unravel these mysterious landmarks for you and explain the history behind it all from Hermitages to Holy Wells and fairy ring forts. Along this magical tour you are sure to get a bit peckish but don't worry I will have some snacks to enjoy along the way. After we return I would be happy to recommend my favourite restaurants and cafes in Kinvara a great way to cap off a wonderful day.

Greetings explorers, My name is Triona and I have spent the last 50 years living in and around the Burren exploring its hidden treasures and beautiful vistas. I love to share these wonderful places with friends, family and now you. I’m passionate about this inspiring landscape and have built up a wide knowledge of the flora, fauna and folklore surrounding the Burren. I have M.A in Environmental Education and was a chemistry teacher and natural healer for over 20 years. Join me as we walk this magical place unlike anywhere you have seen before and of course have some fun along the way.

Where you'll be

The Burren is of 500 square kilometers of untouched beauty. I haven't find a place quite like it. Originally carved from glaciers people have been inhabiting the Burren for over 5000 years. The limestone bed which gives the Burren its unique shape is full if hidden vistas and deep valleys. I will be your sherpa as we take a walk through the ancient history of Ireland.

The loveliest couple of hours spent in a magical place with Catriona who is so connected to the land and the spirituality that it holds.

It was totally my privilege to know Triona. Everything went easy and spiritual. The experience was personalised and tailored made to the fullness. Doing meditation on stone in the burren allowed you to fully immerse into the sheer environment under the sky. Every moment in the walk was enjoyable and personally I felt affectionate and connected with Triona being such a passionate person about life. Beyond that, she so lovingly and generously did everything she could to give me the best time and help me catch up the schedule back to Dublin afterwards. The whole experience was beyond expectation! Highly recommend!

This was a wonderful experience. I would definitely do this again. Our host was incredibly insightful and took us to places that we would never have been able to see with out local help. It was a perfect start to the day!

This was a lovely experience... Triona has a unique insight and a wealth of knowledge about the Burren landscape, flora and folklore and she was happy to share this as we walked and climbed... we went to the top of Uacht Mama and because of the sunny and showery weather on the day, enjoyed the wild and ever changing scenery and amazing views of mountain and sea all around. I highly recommend this burren experience with Caitriona....
