What you'll do

Join me for a 4 mile run sprinkled with Rocky and Philly stories most locals don’t even know! You’ll become a local champ weaving through the Italian Market streets of Philly with me. And we’ll cap it off with a run up the famous Art Museum Steps.

In addition to being the home of the Rocky films, did you know Philly invented the Cowboy Hat and Fast Food? We explore those little known facts and hundreds more. We cover a large part of Philly with a focus on Rocky, all in just over an hour! I'll tie together the unique Philly story as we run through its Colonial Old City, South Philly, and its Commercial Center. We tap into themes like freedom, the underdog story, and many American Firsts.

Philly's beautiful, flat & straight streets are full of sites - perfect for running tours! Whether you're here on vacation, business or even a local, there's no better way to learn about Philly while breaking a sweat! You'll walk away refreshed, and your expectations will be exceeded! This tour is more fulfilling than running on a hotel treadmill and better than getting lost in the city alone.

You'll receive a detailed map overview (PDF) of 50 sites from our run to help you explore further!

I'm a Philadelphian who's been giving unique tours of my city for over a decade. I'm a 5-time marathoner and member of Philly's 3 major running clubs. I'm also a proud member of the Philadelphia Association of Tour Guides (Philly's premier Tour Guide Guild). I love sports and movies about Philly. My expertise covers all of Philly's eras from Revolutionary to Industrial to Post-War to Contemporary.

In short: I love Philly. I love its history. I love sports. I love the underdog story. And I expecially love to run. I want to share my passions and expertise with you during your time in the City of Brotherly Love!

I was born and raised in Philly and have lived here all my life. I take a lot of pride in being a Philadelphia AND knowing things about the city. With that being said, there were SO many things that we saw and learned throughout the run that I didn’t know about, and I felt like I was a tourist in my own city! Ian was an amazing host and gave so much insight and tidbits about different things throughout the city. He was really friendly and welcoming and I would 100/100 do it again!

As a Philadelphian, first let me say this experience surpassed our expectations. Ian taught my family so many factoids about the city. Our recent experience was fantastic, made all the more pleasurable by the excellent planning and our guide Ian. Ian took the time to stop and go over things and even take pictures of us. Ian is super friendly and knowledgeable. In terms of touring we cannot imagine a nicer time or more memorable experience! Don't even think twice just book this experience!

The running tour was one of the highlights of our 24 hour trip into philly. He gave some William Penn history that I didn’t know .. the route was great - especially loved running through the Italian part of the city. You could tell Ian is passionate about his city and he gave me an appreciation for Philly I didn’t have before. I definitely plan on doing another running tour next time we’re in town.
