What you'll do

Guests will be entertained in our family home humbly tucked away in the Malay Quarters.

I will welcome my guests as I would family and friends with a traditional Cape Malay drink (hot or cold depending on weather).

Upon arrival my guests will be greeted by an authentic Cape Malay tea and treat table fitting a traditional Cape Malay celebration.

Guests will take part in making at least one of their treats from scratch step by step so that they may reproduce it at home and also make it their own.

We will sit down and enjoy a variety of yummy traditional desserts and beverages. To name a few - koesiesters, hertzoggies, malva pudding, traditional spicy biscuits, gulam jamun, twee gevreetjies, vermecili, boeber, faloodah, masala tea and rooibos iced tea.

I will facilitate engagement among guests whilst I share the story on how the desserts came to be and the occasions and festivities they are served at.

I'm a natural storyteller and will keep my guests entertained with stories of our traditions, my family heritage and childhood memories which all relate to our rich culinary history.

Guests will depart happy warm and fuzzy customary Malay parting barakat (gift/blessing)
