About your host

I keep between 100 and 200 honeybee colonies spread throughout the Santa Monica Mountains from Pacific Palisades to Point Mugu. My goal is to make small batch specialty honey that highlights the unique nectars of this beautiful landscape.

What we’ll do

This is your opportunity to get a first hand look into what goes into the production of local honey in the Los Angeles Area. From the meeting location we will caravan (5 mins) to my apiary, suit up, and get into the hives. As I guide you through a typical bee hive inspection, we will discuss the basics of honey bee behavior, the benefits and difficulties of making honey in the Los Angeles area,…

What else you should know

Beekeeping practice changes based on seasonal weather and condition of the hives. All guests should be willing to be flexible with their experience as we adjust to best accommodate the bees.
