What you'll do

Josue, Antonio, or Daniel will be guiding your Experience.

If you are looking to experience the real culture, nature and beauty of Costa Rica, this is the Experience you are looking for.

We will take you to Las Monas (the monkeys) Rainforest around 5 minutes away from Jaco. It is a 25 minute hike in to the jungle you will be learning about the natural vegetation used for medicine by the natives of Las Monas.

The Experience lasts 2.5-3.5 hours depending on how long you would like to be at each waterfall and swim in the natural pools. You do not have to swim if you do not want to ;)

Once we get to the Waterfalls you will get to swim in the 10 natural pools or jump from the top of the waterfalls.

On our way back you will have the pleasure to taste the local cuisine at La Casita del Sabor (The Home of Flavor), cooked by the Grandmother of Las Monas town. It is the perfect tour if you want to be one with nature and local culture.

Hike starts easy then gets a bit more difficult so not suited for anyone with a handicap. Approximately from the start of the river to the 1st waterfall is 1km (15-20 minutes) then will see new waterfalls every 50-100 meters.
Other things to note

Chris moved to Costa Rica in 2010 to get back to nature after building a business in the USA. It was the best move he had made and really found true happiness within himself. He met Antonio almost immediately after moving to Costa Rica. They became brothers. Josue is Antonio's brother. Known for his big smile :)

Josue & Antonio are native and working in tourism for 10+ years now, working with thousands of people from all around the world every day.

Chris & Antonio came together to form Playa Hermosa Vacation and soon became Superhosts on Airbnb, in which they coordinate 100% of their house guests trip. Now they want to offer these experiences to everyone

This experience was very worth the money and definitely a challenge. We got a lot of exercise in climbing to the top. It was a bit challenging at times but very worth the journey! We were with a group who had a two year old who were able to climb to the top using harnesses, but I would suggest babies and the elderly to find something a bit less extreme. Josue and his younger brother were excellent guides, and the meal provided at the end was delicious! Very traditional Costa Rican cuisine. Communication was also excellent leading up to the day we met up and I never felt uncomfortable or unsure. I would recommend this experience to everyone I know!

THIS WAS THE BEST!! make sure to wear shoes that trudge through water real well. ( you will be waist deep at some points. Guide wore crocs for reference) The adventures throughout were great. Love hikes that involve climbing and scenery and Josué was excellent in navigating our safety and made it an incredible experience. He made sure we took our time so every leg of the hike wasn’t too difficult. Swimming was refreshing and fruit at the end was the perfect treat before lunch. And this restaurant was probably the best authentic CR food we’ve had our whole month stay here. Loved it all. Glad we had a guide and glad the scenery was to die for as Arizonans .

A perfect introduction and understanding of the surrounding nature to Jaco. Josue our guide, provided an ultimate and down to earth experience. He understands the limitations and capabilities of those who he guides. Making it a guide to the unknown with utter confidence. The end of our hike concluded with a delicious meal served at the nearby soda(typical costa rican cuisine. Don’t hesitate & book :)

We added this tour last minute on our last day there and we are so glad we did! Our guide Josue was very friendly and ensured we were comfortable and had a safe hike. We had some unexpected surprises starting with a coco frio prior to the hike and some fresh fruit upon reaching the last waterfall. Josue was very knowledgeable about the country and culture and we enjoyed learning about the vegetation throughout the hike. The hike itself starts out fairly mellow with a hike through the jungle. You will walk upstream through a river throughout the hike so be sure to wear shoes you don’t mind getting wet (we wore tennis shoes but would have opted for hiking boots had we known this). Some parts of the hike are steep and there are several parts where you have to wade through the waterfall to continue or hold onto a rope while climbing up. You don’t have to be in Olympic athletic shape but it’s not a walk in the park either. There is an opportunity to jump into a waterfall but be cautious as it isn’t super deep & you might hit the bottom while jumping. We kept our knees up and did touch the bottom but it was fine. The jump was scary but fun! You end the tour eating at Casita del Sabor and you will not be disappointed!! Such nice people and a delicious meal!! Josue and his staff were so friendly, we highly recommend this hike & tour if you’re visiting the Jaco area!!
