We are Anas and Lana Amarneh, founders of Through Local Eyes. We studied tourism management and have lived in various rural areas in Jordan, developing alternative programs and activities. Our passion lies in storytelling and connecting guests with locals to explore the rich history and daily life of Amman.

Lana was such a great host, and we felt honoured to have met her on this guided walking tour through Amman. We had been to the city the day prior, and were worried we’d be seeing much of the same things - this was not the case. This tour is less about the sights, it’s about the stories and lived experiences of those who inhabit the areas visited. Lana was an exceptional guide who let us into her world through this tour, and this was an experience we would not have had without taking part in this. We certainly learned a lot in this tour, and gained perspectives we would not have otherwise realised. One of the best tours we’ve been on hands down, and I would recommend to anyone visiting the city.

Lana was the best tour guide I could have asked for on my first day in Amman. If you want to learn about and experience what it’s really like living in Jordan this is the perfect tour for you. This was much different than the other big touristy things I did on my trip and I’m really grateful to have learned the deeper history in Amman, as well as getting to learn Lana’s own experiences being a woman in Jordan. We had such a good time together and I felt like she was such a good friend to have made. It was a very moving experience. Highly recommend!

A very though- provoking tour about the history of Amman, its people and their true struggles and solutions to life's problems. Lana was a great guide, super open and friendly who shared a little glimpse of what's like to live in Jordan for real locals. most tourists only really visit downtown and the touristy places but she did talk a lot about how life is really like here. The only thing I would have liked was to visit a local family, but I understand maybe right now is not the right time. I recommend it to everyone but please keep an open mind always and don't go with any prejudices!
