What you'll do
Our Half Day Horse Back Wine tour sets off from the Pink Geranium Nursery. We ride on Joostenberg Wine farm which is an organic farm, where we will see many species of birds, and possibly some buck. Then we cross onto De Meye Wine Estate. De Meye is one of SA's oldest estates, with a historic homestead. From there we cross to Muldersvlei, where we ride over the hill and onto Arra wine Estate. The views are truly spectacular with a backdrop of Table Mountain. We regularly see breeding pairs of South-Africa's national bird, the Blue Crane, as well as some small antelope. We include a Gourmet picnic, which guests enjoy from a lookout on top of the mountain. The picnic is jam packed with locally sourced ham, cheese, bread, olives and salad and sweet treats, and juice or water. (Please contact us with any special dietary requirements) After lunch guests have the option of enjoying a wine tasting inside the winery, after which we slowly head back to the Pink Geranium Nursery. Guests should have previous experience with riding horses, and should be able to comfortably trot and canter, as well as mount their horse from the ground.
Hi, It's Lou here, your host. I am absolutely passionate about horses, wine and South-Africa! I can not wait to share all these things with you! I started 'Horse riding at the Pink Geranium' in 2016, and since then have been working tirelessly with children from local communities, teaching horsemanship skills, to end the cycle of poverty many of them are trapped in. I lived and worked in London for 15 years, before moving back to SA in 2015. I am absolutely thrilled to be 'home' and to play my part in healing this beautiful country.
I will provide a picnic, filled with locally sourced bread, cheese, ham, olives, salad, sweet treats and fruit juice.
Included in the price is one wine tasting at Arra wine estate.
Safety helmets are provided.
