What you'll do

If you are visiting Santo Domingo for the first time, this tour is especially for you! Enjoy an action-packed, three-hour introduction to the buzzing capital of the Dominican Republic, the oldest settlement in the Americas.
Prepare to discover a different side to the Caribbean as we take you on a whistle stop tour of Santo Domingo’s many historic, cultural and natural highlights.

We will walk the UNESCO-listed Colonial District, where a large majority of the island’s cultural highlights can be found. As we go you will spot by the hand of a local a different point of view on how we live and enjoy this historical site. We will explain about the city's history, nature and vibrant culture.

Our last cultural stop will be at dominican Colmado where we will enjoy a refreshing Dominican beer at the most iconic social venue of the city. Our tour will finish with a walk along the Calle El Conde and a stop at Columbus Park. We we'll leave you for further exploring or having a good local meal.
Other things to note

I'm the founder of Santo Domingo Urban Adventures, and one of the few certified guides specialized in culture and nature in Santo Domingo. I spend most part of the day in the colonial district and I love it! It is the place where I work, where I meet with friends, where I eat and hang out during the nights. My friends Luis, Francis, Joel and I, want to introduce you into that scene from the inside.

I highly recommend taking this tour! My guests and I felt involved, informed, and relaxed on this step into DR history. Our guide was extremely personable and took the time to ask us questions and make himself available and open to any questions as well. 10/10 this is worth the time.

A had the most amazing tour with tour guide Luis who was very informative and was able to give me a history of the area we were in. He was also very knowledgeable and answered any questions i had. We managed to walk around the colonial zone and visited quite a few places , i was the only person on the tour and i requested for a visit to a cigar factory which he was able to facilitate. I felt safe and Luis was attentive to safety in crowds and also with crossing the roads, those who have been to Santo Domingo will know that this can be daunting!! Tour was great value for money. Would definitely recommend.

Luis was such a personable and wonderful guide. He’s knowledgeable, funny and went out of his way to make sure we were enjoying ourselves and getting the most out of our time together. His language skills are super impressive - I think he told us he speaks four or more languages fluently. And he was able to help translate ideas and history for us English speakers in a way that really enriched our experience. The tour was fun and we got to see some stuff we wouldn’t have otherwise discovered. Thanks, Luis! We highly recommend this tour, and Luis specifically.

We got lucky to have Luis as a private guide because the Airbnb pin drop was inaccurate and caused us a delay in getting to the meeting place but Luis waited for us. This was not our fault or Luis' fault - we have had this problem multiple times this week with airbnb and don't know why it is happening - if there has been some kind of update that isn't working properly. As for the tour. it was very interesting - I really recommend anyone who takes this tour be truly interested in learning all the real history of the country, the town, the people and more. This is not the stuff you learn in history books but the stuff you learn by asking questions, being truly curious, and having a guide like Luis who truly knows a lot about his town and what makes it such a special place. We took this tour literally 90 minutes after getting off the plane and having no knowledge of the town. Luis helped us get acquainted and prepared us for an amazing visit on the island. He taught us some key phrases and took us to a pastry shop and had us taste some local fare so we would know what to order in the future. It was a delight.

Wonderful experience!! My boyfriend loves learning about the history of a location when we travel and this was absolutely perfect for him! We enjoyed seeing all the ruins and old buildings but also enjoyed learning about the culture and current things going on in the dominican. I personally enjoyed learning about the typical dominican food. Luis was super knowledgeable and a wonderful guide!
