What you'll do
You'll circle fascinating Washington Square, the heart of the Village, in a 60-minute tour with Diana, a long time New Yorker, art director, Village resident and licensed tour guide. You'll discover the people, events and history that have shaped this special downtown spot and make it vibrant today. Starting at the Washington Square Arch and the beautiful Holiday Tree, we’ll travel around the Park paths that locals and students walk. We'll pause for photos by the fountain and listen to music. We’ll visit the hanging tree, the popular dog run, famous monuments and the often-filmed chess tables. We’ll see where the bohemian artists, writers and activists spent their time, and we’ll end at the corner of Washington Square South and MacDougal Street, where the Village clubs and coffee houses begin.
Other things to note
This hour-long tour will fit in a packed schedule, yet reveal secrets and surprises of Washington Square that even locals don't know, and give you time afterwards to visit nearby shops and cafes.

When, as a young student, I first fell in love with Washington Square. I didn’t realize then that I would live and teach at this unique New York spot, become an art director, and a NYC licensed tour guide. Now I have the pleasure of sharing the stories and secrets of this special place with visitors, who I hope will enjoy it as much as I have.
Where you'll be
We’ll gather at the marble feet of President George Washington on the famous Washington Square Arch at the north side of the Park, near Fifth Avenue, a one-time marsh and potter's field.
